NSK is pleased to sponsor this year’s Scottish Dental Show, and the NSK team, headed by Angela Glasgow, will be available on Stand C07, with expert advice, exclusive special offers and hands-on NSK Ikigai workshops throughout the two days.

Angela is one of the most familiar names and faces in Scottish dentistry and this Show presents an opportunity to chat with Angela and benefit from her years of dental experience. Her immense product knowledge and wider understanding of the dental market makes her advice and guidance invaluable. She said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting the dental team at this year’s Scottish Dental Show. Whether you are new to NSK or an established customer I am happy to offer whatever help I can to you and your team. I look forward to seeing you in Glasgow!”

There’s plenty new from NSK

From general restorative procedures, through endodontics, orthodontics and oral hygiene, to implant and oral surgery, NSK’s range of handpiece and equipment options cater for every dental discipline. The Ti-Max Z990L and Z890L high-performance turbines come with unprecedented power*, making light work of cutting even the hardest materials including zirconia. For clinicians who prefer options driven by an electric micromotor, NSK’s Ti-Max Z95L 1:5 speed-increasing contra-angle delivers a smooth and precise cutting action and its narrow neck and smaller head provides easy access in harder-to-reach molar regions.

The new NLZ E is a lightweight, compact portable Electric Micromotor system. Ideal for general applications the motor can be used with speed increasing (red band), 1:1 direct drive (blue band) or speed reducing (green band) contra-angle handpieces. NLZ E features functions for rotary and reciprocating endodontics and also enables clinicians to check their handpiece is in full working order.

NSK’s new VarioSurg 4 is an ultrasonic bone surgery system facilitating minimally invasive surgical techniques with maximum efficiency. With its stylish new design, the VarioSurg 4 has the option to link seamlessly to NSK’s Surgic Pro2 implant/oral surgery micromotor, enabling control of both devices from a single wireless foot control. NSK’s decontamination solutions now extend to include a 24-litre Type-B autoclave – the new iClave 24 and Angela will be happy to explain to delegates the benefits of this new addition to the iClave family.

Finally, the Scottish Dental Show will be the first UK event to showcase the NEW Varios Combi Pro2. This brand new iteration of the original Varios Combi Pro has an iPiezo® engine and combines ultrasonic scaling and powder therapy in one compact unit. The new version features a titanium scaler which is lightweight and durable and a new heating element feeds warm water which reduces sensitivity. The Varios Combi Pro2 will be available on the NSK Stand throughout the Show.

NSK Ikigai hands-on workshops

This year’s show sees the return of NSK’s highly popular hands-on workshops, hosted by NSK Ikigai educators Siobhan Kelleher, Lauren Long and Jenny Walker.

There are two on-stand sessions which will run alternately during Friday and Saturday:

  • Piezoelectric Advanced Instrumentation and Air-Powder Polishing Systems – looking at piezo tip selection, air-polishing and the powders available.
  • Implant Care – an introduction to implant instrumentation.

Siobhan Kelleher is a multi-award-winning dental hygienist and is the clinical and programme lead for the Ikigai Oral Hygiene Programme. She is an accredited Eduqual course provider and created the Postgraduate Diploma in Oral and Positive Health – level 7, the first globally.

Lauren Long is a dental therapist with more than 15 years’ experience, working exclusively in private practice in Edinburgh. She is a Clinical Educator and KOL for NSK, Smile Dental Academy and LM Instruments. Lauren founded the ‘Scottish Dental Therapist Network’ to bring increased education for Therapists and Hygienists in Scotland and is Clinical Director for the Pain Free Dentistry Group.

Jenny Walker is a dental therapist working in a peri-implant disease referral practice and DCP-led practice where she is one of the clinical leads. Jenny has helped devise and deliver courses for hygienists and therapists on the management of implant patients and also lectures on the MSc in dental implantology in Manchester.

The two hands-on workshops are free to attend and will alternate throughout the two days of the show. There is space for six to eight delegates at each workshop and registered participants will be awarded CPD for each session attended.

Delegates will use the Varios Combi Pro during the workshops and be given technique tips from Siobhan, Lauren and Jenny. The Varios Combi Pro with its iPiezo® engine, combines ultrasonic scaling and powder therapy in one compact unit. The slim, lightweight powder therapy handpieces provide excellent accessibility and manoeuvrability, and the powder therapy chambers (with their respective handpieces) easily slot in and out at the touch of a button.
