The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is hosting two Dental Cone Beam CT courses in February and March next year.

Dental Cone Beam CT 2A on 4-5 February will focus on teaching safe interpretation of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans, and when to refer for radiological or surgical opinions.

The two-day course will enable participants to begin safely interpreting their own cone-beam computed tomography scans having been introduced to what normal 3D anatomy looks like. Delegates will then understand when to refer on for a level 3 expert radiological or surgical opinion should an anomaly or significant pathology arise.

Images from a number of CBCT scanners will be presented in the formal lectures. The software that the delegates learn to drive in the workshop is kindly provided by Dentsply Sirona.

The course follows a logical path through the given material and is punctuated with reflective sessions and workshop software demonstrations.  Delegates will gain a thorough understanding of how to reference legislation as well as the responsibilities around CBCT implementation and operation.

Both days will offer an interactive, delegate centred approach to delivery with focused reflection and discussion.

Following on from this course, Dental Cone Beam CT 2B on 4 March offers an interactive, delegate centred approach to learning and will enable attendees to maintain the safe operation and interpretation of CBCTs.

It will enable delegates to consolidate learning and address any issues which may have arisen when putting their 2A experience into practice.

Delivered by Dr Neil Heath, a Consultant Radiologist and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the Dental Cone Beam 2B course will include a focused session on bone disease and their presentation on dental imaging, radiological interpretation exercises and extensive peer learning, discussion and reflection on CBCT reporting skills.
