Pledge your support for vital dental care in the Philippines
A University of Dundee dental student will be spending four weeks volunteering in Roxas City in the Philippines this summer.
Emma Copley, a fourth year student, will be part of a team of dental students and dentists providing vital dental care to children and adults in local communities.
She will be working in a hospital, as well as treating rural communities reached by a dental bus.
A Just Giving page has been launched with the aim of raising £500.
“The Philippines has one of the highest rates of tooth decay in world due to dentistry being greatly under prioritised and underfunded,” said Emma.
She is currently in the process of developing an oral health comic tailored to Filipino children, which will help deliver personalised oral health promotion, diet and decay prevention advice.
“Any donations will be greatly appreciated and can be put towards supplies for patient treatment, as well as allowing copies of the dental comic to be printed for each child to take home.”
