New webinars and resources to support dental teams
The British Dental Association (BDA) has highlighted new webinars and resources to support dental teams to help prepare for the reformed system of NHS payment from 1 November.
It notes that NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have announced webinars to support dental teams.
The TURAS page ‘Information on the SDR / Determination 1’ has also been published, which contains the essential learning resources that are outlined in the PCA(D)(2023)5. To use this resource, make sure you have signed into your TURAS account. You will need to complete each video sequentially and the time spent completing each module is recorded for reporting purposes. On completion you will gain access to your certificate and a claim form.
A free of charge webinar for the whole dental team, an ‘Introduction to Determination 1’ will be held
Following this, you will also need to attend a webinar which gives further explanation on the SDR/Determination 1 which can be booked via Portal. These will be recorded and made accessible on the TURAS page after they have taken place if you are unable to attend the live events.
A free of charge webinar for the whole dental team, an ‘Introduction to Determination 1’ will be held on Thursday 12 October from 19:00-20:30, and Wednesday 25 October from 19:00-20:30. The webinar will familiarise you with the Determination 1 document, including the key changes and updates, the rationale behind the changes to periodontal care pathways, and the principles and responsibilities around a low bureaucracy and high trust model of service delivery.
You will be able to book a place until the day before the live webinar at 12:00. After this time, the course will no longer be visible on iBooklet. Please register for the webinars you wish to attend well in advance in case you require any technical assistance. You must be present from the start of the webinars, answer most of the polls and stay connected until the end, to be certified for attendance.
To qualify for the one-off payment of £500 ‘Extraordinary Dental Reform CPD Allowance’ you must meet the criteria as described in the PCA.
What’s New In, and How to Work in Harmony with the Updated SDCEP Periodontal Guidance for Primary Care? will be held on Tuesday 7 November from 18:30-20:00 and places can be booked by all members of the dental team until Monday 6 November at 12:00 free of charge.
The webinar will introduce you to the SDCEP Periodontal Guidance and discuss its implications for practice. It will support you in describing the updates, using the guidance to maximise effectiveness in managing patients, and understanding how periodontal treatment might be delivered within the new SDR model.
