Are you, as a GDP, interested in a unique and exciting dental initiative? Do you like a challenge and have the curiosity and ambition to work at the leading edge of Scottish dentistry development?
This career development opportunity – to become a Scottish Dental Clinical Leadership Fellow (SDCLF) – is now available for two general dental practitioners currently working in, and committed to, NHS Scotland.
The posts will be allocated to host organisations with relevance to GDS and will provide experience and leadership development opportunities.
This opportunity is designed to strengthen future healthcare and dentistry leadership by developing the skills of individuals at a national strategic level with support from NHS Scotland’s Dental leaders.
Each post is an excellent opportunity for general dental practitioners, with more than five years’ experience of GDS and some insight into the wider dental environment, to expand their leadership experience and develop their skills, whilst maintaining links to their current service.
The closing date for completed applications is 21 March (see below for details and how to apply).
Working with senior NHS Scotland Dental leaders, as well as other key strategic groups and organisations within NHS Scotland and the profession, the Leadership Fellows will be involved in taking forward key priority areas from the recent Scottish Government strategy, the Oral Health Improvement Plan and related project objectives.
Applicants should be highly motivated and currently working in NHS General Dental Practice in Scotland, have a good understanding of Scotland’s NHS system and professional structures and processes along with a sound grasp of the Scottish Policy context.
Excellent communication skills, experience in service development, and evidence of leadership skills, for example in engaging, motivating and influencing others at senior levels are also essential.
As part of the recruitment process, you will be asked to submit a statement from an experienced clinical colleague in support of your application.
The two part-time posts are 0.53 Whole Time Equivalent each (flexible). The duration is a fixed short-term contract opportunity for 12 months (August 2023 to July 2024).
The salary, based on A4C 8c, is a Whole Time Equivalent of £75,711 pro rata. Location; the workplaces for these posts will be flexible with some time spent in NES offices or Post Graduate centres or within other relevant host organisations across Scotland.
